Back up and reconsider....

Yesterday was the start date for the Maple Leaf KAL. (Pattern coutesy of Jeanie Townsend.) I am a color-phobic, and normally you will find me in browns, beiges, nature colors. So, when I found Regia Tweed #10...I was very pleased! But, after two pattern repeats, I was not happy with the results. If I am going to go thru all the effort of K7 (yes SEVEN) together, I want something to show for my efforts. The "leaf" were just not showing with this dark brown yarn. So, took a couple of steps back and reconsidered:

There are lovely little "Slubs" of color within this heathery brown yarn. So, I gathered up my leftover yarns and tried to find all the same colors. I hope you can see the tiny little color flecks. I will try to post a close-up also:

While I was not planning on making Stiped socks, (and this is very much the end result), I think I will like them very much. On my screen, the 4th color down looks more red than the real yarn. It is actually a nice fallish rust color.

The solids are a mixture of Knit Picks and Lisa Souza yarns. I hope there is no consequence in mixing them all together.

Thanks to Jeanie for a very beautiful pattern, and to Anno for suggesting this Knit a Long. Now...back to knitting....
K.

Kathy, the leftovers in contrasting colors for the maple leaves is inspired! Looks great! I am starting on mine in a autumnal colorway, but if I like the pattern I might have to try one more like yours!

I think it looks great! I never thought of this idea myself - I'm using a more variegated yarn and the leafs are coming up different colors depending on what color is there when I'm pulling up the loops. Your's are very classy!
