A great idea gone Ugly!!

I am sure lots of you have little balls of lelft over yarns - many of which are the self-patterning Sock yarns. Well, I had TONS, and when I recently saw a pattern for children's mittens using 2 strands of fingering yarn, ....the lightbulb in my brain flashed brightly!! Or, at least I thought so...

Great way to use up all those odd size balls of yarn, but a little more difficult pairing them up into "Sets" of mittens. Hmmm...... The striped one on the bottom will just never work with any other, so I am going to frog that one and reuse the yarn. I am far from done, so hopefully, when I am totally done I will be able to pair them up into sets of , while not matching - at least blending, duos.

And - if all else fails, I could always enter an "Ugly mitten" contest -- I'd win hands (or mittens) down!!!

These are for the "Mittens for Akko" (via CIC) drive. No matter how odd looking, they are wool, and I hope they will help to make a child's hands warm. Oh, and the pattern is courtesy of Jean . It is a lovely pattern, and the ugly result is certainly not the fault of the designer... :)

I think it's a great idea and they don't have to match exactly. It's kind of fun! Keep going! I think kids will love them.

Ohh I love them, and I would totally wear something like that, especially the two 'pairs' in the upper left hand corner.

Of course when I was a child I love mis-matched but coordinating things.

I'm sure they will make several children warm and happy.

Your mittens look great. I may try that with some of my endless little balls that are taking up way too much room in my stash bins.

Thanks for the inspiration.

Right now I'm trying to use up Lopi leftovers. Whatever weight yarn, mittens are a great way to use up leftovers.

I don't think you would win an ugly mitten contest...they are far too pretty!

Great use for all those leftovers. I will keep it in mind.
