When sick.....spin!!

It's winter....It's cold.....It's snowy....It's cold and flu season.....All of the above are at my house right now. (sniffle snuff).First it was my husband, and now I'm in the middle of a nasty cold.  I'm miserable!  I missed TNKG last night.  I'll undoubtedly miss yet another knitting group meeting tomorrow.  (have I whined long enough)?
Ok, so it's just a cold, and I am sure I'll be back to normal in a few days, but if you can't whine on your very own blog, where can it be done???
There was one day that BG stayed home, lest he catch Grandma's bug.  It gave me an opportunity to spin.  Why, on a day when I felt terrible, would I pick a fiber that I was afraid to touch, for fear I would ruin it is beyond me.  But, I did.  I spun this fiber,
which is Wensleydale.  Now I know nothing about Wensleydale, other than what "they tell me".  So, I am told that if you put too much twist in it, you get nasty wire.  Too little, and it all falls apart.  Just right, and it's a glorious soft yarn.  (Goldilocks and the three bears???)

Anyway, totally beginner's luck.  It's gorgeous!  I spun it as a single (another first for this spinner).  I have 8 oz of it, and this skein is the first 3oz, which measures at 470 yards.  Thin fingering I would guess.
Not sure what it will become, but for now, I am just thrilled (and amazed) at my success!

Also, I am still in the mitten mode.  How is this for a classic, old fashioned mitten?
It's a pattern that can be found in an E-booklet by Nanette Blanchard called "Mittens in Color".  It's knit of handspun.  Fits perfectly.  I love it!

Tonight is the opening ceremonies of the Olympics.  I love the Olympics.  I can get caught up in all the drama and excitement.  I wish our Olympians well, but medals or not.....the experience will surely remain with them for a lifetime!  I have not subscribed to any olympic knitting goals.  Just my usual craze of  constant knitting/spinning - waste not a moment of life.  LOL.... even when you're sick!

Get well soon!
I love your Wensleydale singles! I'm afraid of singles, and don't have much use for yarn made of singles, but I'm always amazed when others are so successful spinning it. I've navajo plied Wensleydale, and I liked it too.
Ha, I know those mittens. Great pattern! :o)

So sorry you're sick. Take care of yourself and get well soon. Spinning sounds like the perfect remedy to take your mind off your miseries. I, too, love the Olympics. I will be happily parked in front of my TV with my knitting for the next two weeks.
