The pattern is called "Powdered Courage". The designer is a climber, so I assume it will meet all the specifications that a climber needs. Here it is is it's prefelted state.
And here it is after being felted. I'm not an experienced felter, so I was quite pleased with the outcome!
The yarn is Cascade 220, which left no mess in my front loading washing machine. I put the bag into a pillow case, and put it thru a wash cycle - hot/cold. I was amazed - and pleased!
Hopefully it will help him hang on a little better! LOL! I snagged this photo from his facebook page. (Probably a cool action photo - yeah - right!!) I have yet to hear the story behind the "event" happening here, but I do know he is ok......we have heard from him since. Probably I don't really want to know the story...... I set up my Facebook account so that I could see the photos that he posted in his page. I oftentimes wonder about the wisdom in my thinking....or lack there of.

The climbing bag is excellent! I'm sure your son will be thrilled with it. Your felting looks perfect to me.
That photo is scary. I'm sure it has quite the story.
The pouch is lovely! I'm so glad none of my children are climbers!
I'm cringing for you!
Maybe he was hopping down the side of that mountain and really was supposed to be in midair when the camera caught him?
I know nothing about climbing, but that's how I would rationize it if it were my son.
Anyway, the bag looks great and I hope it meets his needs. I think it's sweet he thinks of things for you to knit for him.
Aren't sons scary? Mine doesn't climb but instead goes SCUBA diving, so I can sort of relate to the terror. Bet he'll love that bag though. And I do LOVE those red socks!
The bag looks great! I could see other uses for it also. It looks
as if the felting is perfect.
I wonder if he will ever want to climb Mount Everest. Scary!
The picture is scary but the bag is really neat. I just love felted things but fearful of the washing.
Chalk bag? Do they really put chalk in them? I'm thinking probably not, but also thinking -- do they draw chalk pictures on the rock walls???
Nice little felted bag.
Man - that climbing picture is sure scary! Sons can sure put excitement/fear in your life...My oldest does those scary snowboarding jumps and flips and the younger 2 are skateboarding maniacs.
Very cool chalk bag!
It looks like he's about to fall, but I'm sure someone is belaying him! That's a great present!
Isn't' Ravelry the best! Love it!
Ikes! Scary photo......guess you are used to it having watched him grow up! You are such a great mom, Kathy....and a great grand-ma, too! Don't you think we could use that bag to carry our sock projects around in??
