Two down, and hmmmmm well, a few more to go......

I've been spinning like a mad woman, along with working on a pair of socks.... but more about those socks later.

One skein of my new handspun I love, one I hope to love eventually.  Hmmmm....can you guess which one is which?   I LOVE the fact that both of these are over 400 yards - traditional 3-ply.  That was my goal.  The pink one barely made it, coming in at 401 yards, but the other one is 439 yards.  They are both a nice sock weight fingering.  The fiber is Finn, which may not be good for socks, so, we'll see.  But at least I accomplished my goal.
Here are their prospective unspun fibers.  No surprises here.
I am hoping to have the pink/blue one overdyed, in an attempt to calm it down a little.  Just "not me" I'm afraid.  One of the risks a person takes with these fiber clubs and mystery colorways.

BG  and I went to the Zoo today.  We had a wonderful time, complete with wonderful weather.  He fell asleep on the way home - totally exhausted.  He was such a good little guy - and totally enjoyed himself.  Well, there was that brief moment of panic when he realized he was actually ON the train!!  Eventually the choke hold he had on me subsided, and he enjoyed the trip around the zoo.  In fact when we had to get off, he wanted "more". If only all the worries of the world were so short lived.....   I'm not sure, but I think some of the enthusiasm he displayed for the animals was totally for my benefit.  I'm sure I made a fool out of myself encouraging his "Ohhhhhs and Ahhhhhs"!   Of course, the gift shop is stocked with one less giraffe this evening and the chipmunks in the picnic area will sleep with full little tummies tonight - full of string cheese!

Ahhhhh .....  Life's soooo good!   :)

Congratulations on reaching your goal. I think both skeins are wonderful. What fibers are they? Taking the girls to the zoo is on our agenda this summer.

That's one reason I'm going to be in less fiber clubs, because I want to get fiber I really want, still will be in two FC though.
Both are lovely spun, but I like the second one better too. It reminds me of some jojoland sock yarn I had and used for socks and a shawl.
I'm sure with a little over dyeing your other yarn will be quite beautiful too.
Sounds like a nice day you two had! He's lucky to have such an active grandma! :o)

I love them both! Can't wait to see the socks you're working on. The zoo works well to wear kids (and Grandmas) out; we did that last month with our 3 the week after the wedding. Lots of fiun despite the rain...no train though.

I like them both too, but the second one is my favorite. I do know a little girl though who would go absolutely crazy for the pink! Sounds like a wonderful day at the zoo. We took our grands to the airplane museum and we needed all of the next day to recover! ;o)

Congratulations on spinning such nice fingering wt yarn with good yardage! I like the 2d one too although the pink and blue would work for a baby.

The zoo sounds like so much fun - both for BG and you.(vbg)

That 1st trip to the zoo is always exciting - all those animals in books come to life...and a TRAIN whoa - almost too much!

Pretty piles of yarn! I'll be waiting for the overdye pic! Dunk it in blue and it will be pretty shades of blue/purple.
I'm making Finn socks right now - I put reinforcement in the heels just in case, but they seem very strong and durable - time will tell.

What a blessing BG is to you! It won't be long before he will want to be the conductor of that little zoo train or beg to go on that first thing.

I guessed the 'pink' yarn was not going to be your favorite. Great job.......they both look perfect to me! And, boy oh boy, I really need to make that light box!

The zoo sounds like a fun time. Special memories for you and BJ.
I like both of the yarns, and I think the pink and blue would make a pretty Traveling Woman scarf. I am sure what ever you make will be perfect.
