"Nuttin but knittin" - that says it all, with an occasional deviation into the real world.

Tis the season.....

I knit up this cute little package decoration this morning.  Left over sock yarn - Heritage in dark green and dark red.  I'm happy with it.  I am going to tuck the hanging cord under the leaves when I put it on the package, but thought perhaps it would be nice to have a hanger attached.  I went searching for a pattern, and found a nice freebie on Ravelry.  Where else??   Much less expensive than similar Hallmark offerings, and I hope recipients will "feel the love" attached.

I am also happy with my finished and blocked Terra shawl.  I would love to gift it to my mom, but she once said she'd wear a shawl if she was a "little old lady".  Hmmmm..... well, we won't go there.  :)  Anyway, I have decided that they really are nice to throw over your shoulders while knitting, reading, or watching tv in the evening.  I don't know that I would ever wear a delicate, lacy, light weight shawl (although they are gorgeous!), but these heavier, "worker" shawls......  Well, like I say, I would love to gift it to my mom, but.....
The unblocked size was 26" x 56".  After blocking, it was 36" by 72" wide.  Just a perfect size - for me anyway.

I have not finished the Monster sweater yet - haven't even touched it, truth be known.  But - I am making another fun project, secretly, as a gift for someone who reads this blog, so..... shhhhhh - I can't tell.  I have also been working on mittens, much to BG's delight!  He declares "Snowman" and runs around the house with mittens on!  I made a bright blue pair just his size, and he gladly wore those on errands this morning.  Warm wiggly fingers - it's a good thing!

Hmmmm - I read your blog (hee hee!). So glad BG will wear something you knit for him. I really need to wrap my head around doing mittens. Can you believe I've never made a pair?? I know two little girls who would probably love them.

Your Terra shawl is lovely and it does look very warm. I am glad to see it blocked out so well. The little holly leafs are cute too.

The shawl is just lovely. I don't blame you for keeping it for yourself. Though maybe if your mother saw it in action she might like one too.
The holly leaves package decoration is so nice. I'm sure it will be well love.

The shawl looks warm and inviting. For some reason it evokes the imagination to run a little amuck, I was picturing it on Laura Ingalls or Jo (Little Women). I love it! Cute about BG. Is Sofee doing better now?

That shawl is so nice. Practical and warm is part of the beauty of it.

I wish I thought I would wear one because I'd love to knit one, but I don't know anyone who would wear it.

That is one cute monster sweater! Glad he finally tried it on. Love the shawl, too, and the holly leaves....gotta find that pattern! What is your favorite mitten pattern?

Kath, I love the shawl and can just imagine throwing it over my shoulders and feeling all warm and cozy.

Yes, mittens are something I should be knitting right now since I have 4 grandchildren old enough to wear them! Geez, if I can finish up on the Christmas stocking for my youngest grandson, then I just might get a pair or two completed.

I love the shawl. It looks like it would be one of those items that you use over and over again. Nice and cozy! I agree with you about the mittens. They're my most favorite thing to knit too! Love BG's sweater. You sure moved right along on that project, but then again, you had great motivation, right Grandma?!

Finally a shawl that I'd consider knitting!!! I'm odd like this, but I just don't get the point of all the lacy, airy, wisps of shawls. I expect my knitting projects to keep me (or someone else) warm - not just be decorative. (I LUV your holly leaves!! Their purpose IS to be decorative.)

This shawl looks warm and comfy! How where) do you block something that is 72"?
