"Nuttin but knittin" - that says it all, with an occasional deviation into the real world.

A benefit of knitting....

These Montgolfiere socks will always be "The heart attack" socks in my mind. My husband had a heart attack last Wednesday morning, and these socks helped me keep calm and focused while waiting.... and visiting.... and waiting some more. Funny, the rythym of knitting, the contol that you have at a time when your life really is spinning out of control. Guess that is what knitting is for me. I know that I knit to de-stress. Having a very nice pair of socks is just a wonderful side benefit.

My husband is doing well, and while we are not done with procedures and rehabs - we are very grateful that everything has gone as well as it has.

The socks - pattern is by Stephanie van der Linden, shared courtesy of the Socken-Kreativ-Liste. Perhaps I would have had enough yarn to make the main color the same for both socks, but I really don't think so. Guess we will never know. The photo color is more blue that it should be....they are really very grey and camel. Also, they are exactly the same size. The right sock is just pulled up farther on the sock blocker. I did not notice. I really like the way they fit, and while it was not a fast knit - it really was quite enjoyable.

On to the next project.....

Is there anywhere to get the pattern in English? It looks so cool!

michelle,

if you join the yahoo group, they have the patterns in both German and English. It is a cool technique - seem "magical" to me!!

So glad to know that your husband is doing well - knitting really is the eye in the hurricane sometimes...
and I love your socks! I have the pattern, and was thinking about doing opposite colours, just for fun - I've done it with other socks - and now I most certainly will - beautiful!

I really enjoy slip stitch patterns and your socks are lovely. You have inspired me. I have done something I do not normally do - I went to the yahoo group you listed and hopefully I joined (I have not had German lessons for many years). So hopefully ....
