It was a very good day.....

Yesterday was my birthday. It was terrific. I spent the day entirely as I wished, and my evening was filled with family. I received a beautiful flower arrangement from my friend Janet, and worked on my shawl, yarn courtesy of Shirley. If this is ageing - bring it on.

My shawl.... Hmmmm.. Ok, you experienced lace knitters - should it look like a cobwebby mess at this stage? When not stretched out, it is quite curious to behold, to be sure! I am being optomistic, and forging ahead......

My days at work are very numbered, and no matter how much I want to retire, these final days are difficult. Work has been a part of my life for 27 years - all at the same place. I will be glad when Thursday, Feb 1st comes. The departure will be over, and the next part of my life will have begun.

I just finished up my first lace project and was so disappointed that I couldn't see the pattern in progress. But once you block that sucker out? It turns out beautiful. It's like an ugly duckling to the beautiful swan.

Happy Birthday Kathy!
Your shawl looks exactly as it should at this point in the game -- it's going to be delicate and beautiful...I can already tell!

Pretty much, yeah.

You can kind of see the same thing on the folded up edge of my sheep shawl.

Don't worry; it all works itself out in the blocking.

Btw: gorgeous flowers!

Happy Birthday! What beautiful flowers. And yes, lace does look like a cobwebby mess until you block it. That's what makes it so magical - it is truly the miracle of knitting to see your lace transform.
