Not sure that you can see, (some of what you see there is shadow) but the very bottom edging is out of a dark charcoal. I didn't like any of the near color choices, so went with the dark neutral. Perhaps you can see it better in this photo:
Seems I am always throwing items on the neighbor's fence for photos. He's never asked, but I bet he wonders about my sanity. I was spinning out on my patio the other day, and my other next door neighbor finally came over and asked what I was doing. I had to laugh, as her nearly grown sons had been spending a great deal of time in their backyard, but gazing over into mine. They finally sent mom over to find out what was going on.

Looks like a good choice to me, Kathy. Did you use the same dark color for the last two rows and castoff, too? It's really pretty!
I think the grey is just perfect. It frames the shawl very nicely. Aaah - spinning outside. Sounds heavenly, although I would not trade the scorching heat and tornadoes for our wind and rain. Maybe spinning out on the sun porch will be as close as I can come.
It's gorgeous Kathy. It also gives me an idea about using my handspun with commercial yarn. The color blends in very well.

My neighbors wonder about my sanity, too, and often come over and ask what on earth I am doing sitting on the step cutting blue jeans into strips. (I use the strips to make rugs)

Both shawls look wonderful, Kathy! I really like this one--Traveling Woman has been in my queue for a while. The colors of your handspun really dress it up. I think your handspun is lovely, btw. You manage to have the variegation without making it wildly mottled. Too often I see handspun yarn that looks pretty spun and plied, but the colors don't blend well when knitted.
I finally got a chance to catch up on some of my blogging, boy it's been so long. Saw the post with your darling little Sofee, what a little sweetie. BG also is so much taller, your shawls are really gorgeous and had to giggle on your fence comment. Many of us do the funniest things to get our knitting photos. By the way I got a used spinning wheel and plan on taking lessons at the Black Sheep gathering in June. Enjoyed our posts!
