The first one, not so pleasant - Sofee slips into the throes of allergy woe. She's there. I gave in and gave her some of her prednisone yesterday. She's miserable, and I am too. I worry so what the medications may be doing "to" her rather than "for" her. Luckily I can usually keep the edge off, which is the goal, with as few as 8 or so pills the entire season. Course, even that is 8 more than I'd like to give her. I also hate to watch her suffer though. It's no fun either way.....
The other is my annual "use up the scraps on kid's mitten" urge. This year I wanted to use up some hand-spun scraps. I could make a hundred mittens, as many bits and bobs of yarn that I have, but I fear my attention span is too short. For now, 4 pair are enough.
Speaking of handspun yarns..... I just prepped my next fiber project. I think I will start spinning for another pair of colorwork mittens.
Oh, and the colorblock shawl from the previous post - it's toast. Sorry Stephen.....the love was just not there. I have seen some lovely renditions, so it's not the pattern's fault - just my color selection was not the best. Anyway - be thee gone! (Life is too short!).

Fall's in the air here as the spiders are busily spinning webs everywhere. Great mittens, and I'm sure they'll be appreciated come winter. You have sure made some lovely shawls this summer!
Argh...we're still in the 90's here and high humidity. I'm hoping for a reprieve soon. Luv the mittens, they will be loved, don't you fret.
Poor Sofee!!! I know what you both must go through. My son got injections to ward off his allergies. IT was O.K. so far, but yesterday a wasp got him in the neck, and a few minutes later he was miserable like every year. It was like a switch was thrown.
Your mittens are lovely! Kids always need several pairs, so they can get a chance to dry.
You have so very much inspired me with mitten knitting! All my handspun planning is for mittens now, and I've got the most awesome mitten book! Now I just need more time, and a couple more hands to spin.

I'm one of the strange ones who is not dreading fall. Today it is up to almost 80, which is quite hot for us. We're camped out in front of the fan and will probably sit outside tonight while it is cool. We let Maggie run through the sprinkler, so she's a happy doggie. Lovely fiber! My spinning mojo has left me, but maybe it will return with the fall too.
The mittens are so cute and will keep a few little children very warm. Sorry about Sofee's allegies - poor little girl!
